A practical brief for coordinating roof, switchboard, cable routes, loads and monitoring before solar is installed during an Algarve renovation.

Coordinate before finishes close

Renovation is the cheapest moment to coordinate trades, but the solar design still needs evidence. Bring the architect or designer, structural specialist where needed, roofer and electrical professional into one marked-up plan. Record roof build-up, waterproofing zones, shading objects, access, cable routes, switchboard location and likely inverter environment.

Do not let a visual panel layout override structure, fire access, drainage or waterproofing. Mounting must suit the actual roof and local exposure. At handover, retain as-built drawings, photographs before closure, cable and protection schedules, roof warranty interfaces, labels, test records and contact details.
